Brian Mason Technology - StrategyTECHNOLOGY

Technical innovation can either create a competitive edge or become a drain on resources. We can provide an objective assessment to identify market potential, development requirements and put together a strategy for protecting intellectual property. The technical capability of company in product development has two aspects; to perform a process and to apply those processes to improve a product. We can assess capability, arrange training, engage suppliers and set up outsourcing as appropriate.

PRODUCT

Motorcycles are highly segmented products with many niche manufacturers. Having a competitive product and strength in one sector does not necessarily carry across into new sectors. Decisions on high investment systems such as a new power unit must take account of competitor products, sector trends and future legislation. We have been fortunate enough to have been involved in the initial design stages for several new product developments that have proved commercially successful. We can consider brand position to develop new product strategy and assist with implementation.

BUSINESS

The challenge of delivering new innovative products at competitive prices combined with constraints imposed by existing manufacturing assets drives the make/buy decision for many companies. Pricing pressure requires use of low cost manufacturing locations where selection of suitable suppliers for components or engineering is not straight forward considering differences in culture and expectations of quality. We have experience of working for global manufacturers where we continue to have a role in helping companies to outsource and form effective relationships. We can help companies to prepare business plans, set up commercial relationships and support investor/stakeholder presentations.
